As a small, two-person consultancy specialising in quality management and cyber security, we believe that sustainability isn’t just for big corporations—it’s a responsibility we all share. That’s why we’ve taken a proactive step to establish our internal environmental policy which includes measuring and offsetting our carbon footprint from 2024.
We recently completed our carbon footprint analysis for company operations, looking at everything from energy use to travel and digital infrastructure. Whilst our footprint was modest, we felt it was important to understand our environmental impact and take meaningful action. Through Carbon Footprint Ltd we offset our footprint of 2 tCO2e through verified carbon reduction projects and planting trees in our home region of the West Midlands.
This process has been eye-opening and empowering. It’s shown us that sustainability can be integrated into any business model—no matter the size. We’re now exploring ways to reduce our emissions and further embed environmental thinking into our consultancy services. The carbon footprint analysis will be an annual process for us.
We encourage other small businesses to consider conducting carbon footprint analysis. It’s not just good for the planet – it’s good for business. Clients, partners and employees increasingly value sustainability, and taking steps like this demonstrates leadership and integrity. Our environmental impact is at the front of our minds in every element of our business.
