Kay, a Director of Compass QMS Ltd is the company’s Principal Quality Consultant and has spent her entire working life employed within regulated and compliant environments.

Kay’s industry knowledge has been built on a career spanning 32 years. Her first role was in the pharmaceutical industry joining ICI Pharmaceuticals in 1991, subsequently becoming AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. Kay became a staff member of Cheshire Police in 2006 as a forensic practitioner within the fingerprint development laboratory followed by a secondment to the National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA), dedicated to the quality standards project of Forensics21. This then led to thirteen years of forensic quality management within law enforcement and commercial forensic service provision, managing compliance to a number of ISO standards and associated codes of practice. Alongside her quality management responsibilities, Kay has successfully delivered external consultancy services to a wide variety of public sector and commercial clients, regularly receiving recognition and plaudits for her engagement, support and professionalism. In 2023, Kay embarked on her latest challenge with the creation of Compass QMS Ltd enabling her to focus on her most rewarding work, the provision of quality consultancy services.

When not at work, Kay has a passion for the environment, enjoying a number of outdoor pursuits including cycling, kayaking and most importantly, spending time on her narrowboat ‘Emma Louise’. Her commitment to understanding the environment and the dynamic world which we live in is evidenced through Kay’s current studies for a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science.

Damian, a fellow Compass QMS Director has worked in both public sector and corporate roles for almost 45 years. Joining Northamptonshire Police in 1979, he performed a variety of roles in his 31 years of service, the majority of which were spent in investigative departments. A significant element of his policing career was devoted to the delivery and management of covert operations both in the UK and overseas. In the latter part of his career, Damian specialised in digital forensic and network investigations, leading his force response to computer-based crime investigations and finally on secondment to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) where he led operations targeting child sex offenders across the globe.

In 2010, he moved into the corporate environment joining Visa Europe to manage the investigation of payment card data breaches. In 2015, Damian joined IntaForensics Ltd to create and develop a cyber security team. He successfully gained accreditation for the company to deliver payment card forensic investigation (PFI) and qualified security assessor (QSA) engagements across Europe, quickly followed by accreditation as a Cyber Essentials Certification Body and CREST registered penetration testing and cyber incident response company. He also developed a managed security service provision with the creation of SOC and SIEM services.

As Chief Security Officer, Damian had overall responsibility for the quality management team, maintaining a close involvement with all ISO accreditation and industry-related certification requirements. Damian became IntaForensics Managing Director in 2022 overseeing the delivery of all service lines to include digital forensics, cyber security, cell site analysis and digital media investigation. He shares Kay’s passion for a life cruising the canals of the UK.
